Signage concept for YOU Hair Salon located in Seongsu district (Seoul)
the new YOU Hair Salon presented a unique visibility challenge due to its basement-level location.
The objective was to create strong visual presence and clear wayfinding for potential clients navigating the area.
However, due to building restrictions, only a portion of the wall could be utilized.
This constraint led to a more compact mirror design, ultimately adding a layer of creative complexity to the project.
Despite its reduced scale, the mirror still serves as a focal point, with the Y.O.U. lettering illuminated by a soft, ambient backlight, enhancing visibility during evening hours.
To further guide visitors, the glass panels enclosing the stairway leading down to the salon were covered with transparent, brightly gradient of colors films, these vibrant accents not only attract attention from a distance but also provide a playful and modern aesthetic.
Informational elements were placed on modular blocks designed to resemble steps, an intentional visual cue referencing the descent required to access the salon.
This signage system not only overcomes the limitations of the space but also amplifies the YOU brand through layered storytelling, bold visibility, and an intuitive user experience.
